Areté is an interdisciplinary educational and training program for IDIBELL researchers and staff.
Areté (Greek: ἀρετή), in the most basic sense, means “excellence of any kind”; a term describing the utmost ability and potency for action, one’s own effectiveness and skill in goodness.
Areté draws on the Vitae Researcher Development Framework (RDF), which is structured into four domains covering the knowledge, behaviors and attributes of researchers. It sets out the wide-ranging knowledge, intellectual abilities, techniques and professional standards expected to conduct responsible research, as well as the personal qualities, knowledge and skills to work with others and ensure the wider impact of research.
Courses are taught by expert in-house instructors or from renown educational institutions. Online courses may include video lectures and readings, and auto-graded assignments. Most of the courses consist of in-person activities, which will require full-time commitment of students and their participation in scheduled activities. When students complete a course, they will receive a digital Course Certificate.
